POSITION DESCRIPTION

Director of Music Ministry

The duties and responsibilities of the Director of Music Ministry shall include:

A. Provide for a variety and balance of quality music by identifying, recruiting, and equipping choir members, soloists, and instrumentalists for worship and special services.
B. Function as a team player, working closely with the Pastor and identified planning groups in planning worship and arranging special services.
C. Function as a team coach, providing leadership for weekly choir practice and additional practice sessions as needed, building relationships, and building on participant’s strengths. It is understood that the Director will be responsible for finding a substitute or guest Director when needed.
D. Provide foundational direction and leadership for the church praise band.
E. Develop, oversee, and operate within a yearly budget for UCCSV’s music ministry in consultation with the Pastor and the Board of Deacons.
F. Maintain an operational understanding of the sanctuary sound system, and train Deacons and/or sound technicians as needed.
G. Participate in periodic and regular professional growth opportunities such as workshops, seminars, and classes pertaining to the leading and development of the music ministry.
H. Direct and supervise all musical elements of worship and special services.
I. Supervise the maintenance of the UCCSV Music Library.
J. Control the use of, as well as provide for the proper maintenance of UCCSV’s musical instruments, including but not limited to, the organ and piano.
K. Provide music at weddings and funerals, or arrange appropriate substitution when necessary. Additional compensation for weddings will be provided by the families according to the following fee:

The fee for a wedding service shall be $200.
Funerals are considered to be part of the Director of Music Minister’s ministry and are not compensated additionally.
